Evolve WMMA Show hosted by Shelley Devine | Pam Sorenson – Dealing With Scratched Cat Zingano Fight
Sometimes its just not the destination that matters…it’s the journey! Bellator MMA fighter and former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Pam “Bam” Sorenson can attest to that. It’s been an inspiring journey filled with blood, sweat, and tears.
Yet her upcoming fight at Bellator 276 against former UFC 135-pound Bantamweight title challenger and the first mom to compete for the organization, “Alpha” Cat Zingano, left her hanging because it was scratched due to an undisclosed injury.
The 39-year-old Zingano went 3-4 inside the Octagon (12-4 overall) and after racking up two wins inside the Bellator cage over Gabby Holloway in Sept. 2020 and Olivia Parker in Apr. 2021, would have been the next logical fight for Bellator Featherweight Champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino, only she declined the fight, instead opting for Sorenson.
For Sorenson, 1-1 inside the Bellator cage, (9-4 overall) the high of winning her debut fight against Professional Fighter’s League (PFL) veteran, Roberta Samad in Aug 2021, then the low of being defeated last Nov 2021 by multi-time Bellator title challenger Arlene Blencowe, facing Zingano would have been an opportune fight to put her in contention for her dream fight, a title shot against Cyborg if she won.
But instead, Arlene Blencowe will be getting that shot again with a rematch against Cyborg in Hawaii at Bellator 279 on April 23, 2022.
Sorenson's next fight & contender may be uncertain, yet to her the journey continues. She did say she was ready for battle no matter who Bellator puts in front of her. Check out her reaction and thoughts in this episode of the Evolve WMMA Show.

In this Evolve WMMA podcast episode... Featherweight Pam "BAM" Sorenson discusses how she is not one who has played it safe! I interviewed her for the first time back in June 2018 while she was waiting to hear from the The Ultimate Fighter 28 show to help upstart the featherweight division, only to find out a couple of months later she did not make the cut along with other top featherweight contenders! She soon got to face Felicia Spencer for the vacant feather weight title at Invicta FC 32. Only to lose that battle to a RNC late in the 4th round.
In January 2019 she fell ill to what she thought was a stomach flew. But with further investigation, doctors discovered she had a massive ovarian cyst…. Which had the potential to jeapordize her ability to be able to fight again! She recovered and she recently fought again headlining the main event for Invicta FC 36 for the vacant featherweight title against women's MMA pioneer Kaitlin Rose Young.
During episode #61, Sorenson discusses getting back in the cage, having a new mindset & attitude & how that felt like a win for her aside from her recent win over Kaitlin Rose Young to become the Invicta FC Feather weight Champion.

Episode 30: Pam Sorenson TUF 28 Update
Jul 9, 2018
Disappointed featherweight fighter Pam “Bam” Sorenson talks about not making it into the TUF 28 house.
Currently there is lots of speculation on what will become of the women’s featherweight division, considering other top ranked featherweight contenders including Cindy Dandois, (12-3) who owns a submission win over Megan Anderson, as well as additional victories over Marloes Coenen, Jorina Baars and King Reina did not make the cut. Other notable featherweights that did not make it into the TUF house were Faith McMah, Jessy Miele, Zarah Fairn, and Jozette Cotton.
Rumor has it that 5 bantamweight fighters and only 3 featherweights made the cut, one of which does not have a pro MMA record. The chosen cast members include women who did not attend the original tryouts. Click HERE to view the full list of 28 women who tried out for the season.
With Cyborg only having 2 fights left on her contract, and Anderson losing to Holm, is it possible that the UFC plans to phase out the division?
Sorenson remains hopeful that the UFC will look to sign her to face Cyborg in the very near future!
